About The Love Val Foundation.

Valerie Lamson Smith was the kindest-hearted, softest spoken, and gentlest woman. She loved fiercely and appreciated all the beauty life has to offer. In December 2019, Val was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. After fighting for 18 months during the Covid-19 pandemic, she lost her battle surrounded by those she loved most.

In 2014, Val gifted her own wedding dress to a co-worker who wouldn’t otherwise have been able to wear such a beautiful dress. In 2018, without hesitation, she gifted her step-daughter her dream dress as well. She loved love and she loved making others smile. “Everyone deserves to feel beautiful,” she would say.

Before Val’s passing, her step daughter, Kate, was struck with an idea inspired by her caring and compassion for others, a way to pay it forward and to pass on her legacy of kindness. Kate was able to share her idea with Val, who was honored, brought to tears, to think of others, on their wedding days, in beautiful outfits donated in her memory, inspired by her own actions.

The Love Val Foundation is a way to give back to those in need on the happiest day of their lives. We accept pre-loved wedding attire, dresses, suits, shoes, and accessories, to be borrowed by anyone who asks. In addition to providing wedding day outfits, we also raise money to cover all expenses, everything from cleaning to shipping, as well as to fund cancer research.

Information about making a donation will be coming soon. We have started our collection with five dresses, to be named after it’s wearers or in memory of a loved one, each to be delivered with its own story. We hope to expand, accepting outfits from every corner of the world, and spreading love. We value inclusivity, supporting the LGBTQ+ community, all ages, races, sizes, and backgrounds.
